LUBBOCK, Texas – Abuelo’s Mexican Restaurant, which has operated at 2520 S. Stemmons Freeway in Lewisville since 1999, will close its doors, effective February 15, 2015. Due to the Interstate 35E expansion project, the state of Texas has acquired the land on which the restaurant sits through eminent domain.

Abuelo’s is currently finalizing plans for a new location in the trade area near the new Nebraska Furniture Mart in the Colony. Additionally, Abuelo’s has five other locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth area in Hurst, West Plano, East Plano, Arlington and Fort Worth.

“With regret, we are closing our location in Lewisville,” said Robert Lin, president of Food Concepts International, Abuelo’s parent company. “We are very thankful to our guests and employees for their loyal patronage and service over the past 15 years in Lewisville. We invite everyone to visit us at any of our other DFW locations, and we are looking forward to a new opening in the Colony area soon.”

LUBBOCK, Texas – On February 22 from open to close, Abuelo’s will offer guests a selection of Premium Margaritas for just $5.95 in celebration of National Margarita Day. Guests can stop in to sip refreshing ’ritas at the bar or in the dining area with appetizers or a meal to commemorate the holiday.

Participating locations include all Abuelo’s restaurants, with the exception of Oklahoma locations.

Abuelo’s offers guests a romantic way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with its special Fajitas for Two promotion, a Prime Rib special and a new entrée that will be offered only for Valentine’s weekend. The Valentine’s specials will be offered Thursday, February 12 through Sunday, February 15, and may vary by location.

Abuelo’s Valentines Fajitas For Two

The Valentine’s Fajitas for Two special includes a choice of up to four different flavors of Abuelo’s fabulous fajitas: Marinated Steak or Chicken, Pork Tenderloin, Yucatan Shrimp, Vegetarian Fajitas or Abuelo’s favorite, Bacon-Wrapped Stuffed Shrimp. All are served with traditional peppers and onions or Abuelo’s unique, garden-fresh mixed vegetables, along with charro beans, homemade guacamole, sour cream, shredded cheeses and a choice of flour or corn tortillas, or romaine lettuce for wrapping.
